Kasin Power &Free Conveyor System have free trolleys that are driven by power chains and carriers that transport the material to a given location.
A range of 'power & free' overhead chain conveyors designed with the flexibility to allow product to be directed along different routes within the same system depending upon the sequence of processes to be applied. The two coextensive tracks (chain and trolley) of the MCM Autotrack conveyor system enable the formation of buffer storage and accumulation zones, automatic route selection and speed changes. This means that any product type can be identified (electronically or with mechanical flags) and automatically sent to specific destinations e.g. process plant lines, assembly lines, inspection stations and unload zones etc. in any desired sequence.

Features of Power & Free Conveyor System


Kasin Power &Free Conveyor System have free trolleys that are driven by power chains and carriers that transport the material to a given location.


A range of 'power & free' overhead chain conveyors designed with the flexibility to allow product to be directed along different routes within the same system depending upon the sequence of processes to be applied. The two coextensive tracks (chain and trolley) of the MCM Autotrack conveyor system enable the formation of buffer storage and accumulation zones, automatic route selection and speed changes. This means that any product type can be identified (electronically or with mechanical flags) and automatically sent to specific destinations e.g. process plant lines, assembly lines, inspection stations and unload zones etc. in any desired sequence.


Product loads can be stopped at almost any position within a 'power & free' system to allow various manufacturing operations to be performed. Product loads can also be stored within a buffer storage area enabling production imbalances and the impact of shift changes to be smoothed out. Speed changes through designated conveyor system zones can be incorporated to match the requirements of an in-line processes. Powered 'drop sections' can be built into a 'power and free' conveyor systems to raise or lower product loads to facilitate certain operations or loading and unloading larger products.


The MCM Autotrack range of 'power & free' conveyors include a system(AT50, AT100, AT500M, & AT600) suitable for handling light, medium and heavy products of many different types. For instance AT500 systems have been used for carrying 6000Kg + trailer chassis through surface coating.


The carriers are attached to the free trolleys and are normally engaged to the power chain by an attached pusher dog assembly on the free trolley. The pusher dog can be disengaged by a cam action in either the free trolley or the chain dog, caused by accumulating behind another free trolley or by engaging a stop blade. The chain continues to move while the carrier becomes temporarily stationary until the free trolley becomes re-engaged with the chain.


The basic power and free design comprises a powered enclosed chain track above an unpowered track with free, independently controlled trolleys. "Pusher dogs," simple mechanical devices inserted into the chain, engage the trolleys to move them and disengage to stop them. A single system can integrate multiple conveyor lines with diverts and merges for sortation and accumulation.

Power and free comes in two standard carrying capacities of 220 or 440 pounds per trolley for the S-310 and S-320 models respectively; a load bar hung between two trolleys has a capacity of 440 or 880 pounds. Lower capacities apply when side-loaded or inverted. Track can be suspended from the ceiling or mounted on structural steel floor supports.

Power & free conveyors offer the highest flexibility of motion in the smallest space. After decoupling, the conveyor trolley units can be stored  by utilizing the dual-rail system of the CSF power & free conveyor, making the system extremely space-saving. The conveyors master steep gradients and inclines without any difficulty and are resistant to dirt and high temperatures. Their robust technology and great flexibility ensure optimal work processes and guarantee a part and target-oriented material flow in your company. Depending on your requirements, track switches, stoppers, lifting and lowering stations and other components can be integrated.


Kasin power & free conveyors can be adapted to your individual requirements for bearing capacity and conveyor speed and can be combined with other conveyor systems.


The power and free conveyor consists of interconnected power track and free track channels. A constantly moving drive chain propels product carriers through the system. When stopped, the carrier idles in the free rail beneath the chain. When the load is released, the chain re-engages with the carrier and pulls it to its destination. Switches can also direct carriers onto different conveyor lines, making power and free conveyors extremely versatile.


Power & free and overhead conveyors

Power and Free conveyors are a special adaptation of traditional monorail conveyors and hand-push free line conveyors. These systems can be designed to mount overhead and support a suspended load or can be inverted and floor mounted to support a live load from beneath. Carriers may be routed automatically through switches to follow specific process paths or be sorted for proper sequencing. Asynchronous operation by means of varying transport speeds and the ability to stop individual carriers provide maximum line flexibility.


The applications for power and free conveyors include part storage and production buffers, paint application, final assembly procedures, line side sequencing, and delivery of sub-components.


Southern Systems manufactures various power and free conveyors, in both overhead and inverted configurations. Systems are designed to handle live loads from 25 lbs. to 40,000 lbs. The systems vary from a light-duty enclosed track design to heavy-duty ship channel for the free rails.


While much of the power and free system is standardized, each power and free conveyor is engineered for a particular application. In virtually all instances, power and free systems are installed on a turnkey basis to assure proper functioning of the design concepts.
